With the wave of a magic wand, each year Lille gets wrapped up in the Christmas spirit as the entire city sparkles and the beautiful façades disappear beneath lavish decorations for its month-long Christmas market. Held in the Place Rihour in the center of town, the surrounding streets are a picture of twinkling lights with the wonderful sounds of Christmas carols. The whole of the Place is taken over by stalls selling arts and crafts and local cuisine. This truly festive event provides entertainment for children with its cheerful lights and stalls and child-themed theatre and games. There's also the chance for all to sample a variety of traditional French Christmas delicacies. Take a ride on the 50-metre high big wheel or browse the stalls selling local produce and original gifts.

Itinerary
We depart early morning and head south for our crossing to the continent. We continue towards Lille, which has the largest Christmas Market in Northern France, consisting of well over 60 stalls selling traditional Christmas decorations, hot mulled wine and lots of edible goodies. There is a large ferris wheel in the main square, from which you get stunning views of the city. Lille is also famous for its great selection of designer stores, if you're looking for that special gift at Christmas. We return to our pick up points late in the evening.
